Image Title: The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary
Description: The sorrowful mysteries of the rosary (rosario doloroso) are illustrated in this rose bush that grows about the figure of the crucified Jesus and features scenes from his life (counter-clockwise): washing the disciples’ feet, agony in the garden, betrayal by Judas, nailing to the cross, and the harrowing of Hell. The more typical list of five elements consists of the agony in the garden, scourging at the pillar, crowning with thorns, carrying of the cross, and the crucifixion.
