To the left, Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray and from his mouth come the words "Our Father etc." on a banderole. To the left, Gabriel speaks to a kneeling Mary and the words "Ave Maria etc." on a banderole come from his mouth. The Latin superscription reads, "The Lord's prayer and angel's salutation," and the text below, "But by what hope will our trust be cultivated? To God, devise prayers; to the Virgin, greetings".
