This series consists of six subseries:
Subseries 1: Joint Activities with Related Organizations
Documents joint activities of the ACPE and its antecedents with organizations sharing similar interests. These joint activities sometimes were under the auspices of more inclusive organizations. The Inter-organizational Consultation and its off-shoot, the Council on Ministries in Specialized Settings, for example, were composed of a number of cooperating organizations including the ACPE, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the American Medical Association and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Arranged alphabetically by name of the non-ACPE organization.
Subseries 2: Denominational Bodies -- National
Includes records documenting communications between the Council for Clinical Training and national denominational bodies. Arranged alphabetically by name of the non-ACPE organization.

Of particular interest among these records are the materials concerning the Chicago Council for Clinical Training which was formed in protest against the council for Clinical Training in 1945? Also of considerable interest for the history of the CPE movement are early records from the New York Academy of Medicine and Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America's Joint Committee on Religion and Medicine. Subseries 7: Development of CPE in Other Countries
Records dealing with the development of CPE in countries other than the U.S.A. This material supplements records found in Series II under the Committee on the Development of CPE in Other Countries and its successor, the Committee on the International Development of CPE..
