Buckhead United Methodist Church was founded in 1824 on land owned by Daniel G. Gunn. In 1884, the original log church building was replaced with a new structure. When this building burned in 1914, it was replaced with a red brick church building. The church was closed in 2004 after a vote by a called church conference.

The records of Buckhead United Methodist Church include three membership registers dated 1915-2002, lists of receipts from collections at Sunday services from 1952-1962 and 1972-1976, a Sunday School attendance record book from 1950-1959, financial and insurance records from 2003-2005, a list of pastors from 1912-1936, and a letter sent to members announcing a called church conference to decide the fate of the church in 2003.

Also included with the records is a pulpit Bible, which was given to Buckhead United Methodist Church in memory of Fred P. McCracken (1896-1977) and Gladys Evelyn McCracken (1923-1939).
