 Biographical Note

Little biographical information about William Dickson Anderson was found. He was a Methodist preacher in North Georgia from at least the late 1870s through his death in 1894. Remarks delivered at his memorial service by W. B. Burnett indicate that Anderson served as a Confederate soldier prior to entering the ministry.

Scope and Content Note

Handwritten sermons by William Dickson Anderson, arranged chronologically by year. There are also four folders of condolence letters addressed to Anderson’s wife following his death in 1894, a copy of remarks made at Anderson’s memorial service by W. B. Burnett, and one folder of undated financial documents.

Also included is a typewritten copy of a sermon by Bishop Henry W. Warren, titled “Like unto His Brethren.” According to the envelope in which the sermon was originally stored, this sermon was mailed to Anderson by Edgar M. Ross of Indianapolis in 1888.
