Scope and Content Note

This three-page letter, addressed to "my dear Mr. Smyth," is dated 1 August 1851. In it, Copleston discusses the status of a recent book: ".the publisher tells me that the Vol. is selling off well and that is what very few do this season for the Great Exhibition has swamped the literary Interest." Copleston also expresses his hope that Smyth has recovered from influenza, as well as his hope to see Smyth in the autumn.
