Biographical Note

There is little biographical data on the author of this piece. William Veitch was an apparently well-educated, affluent resident of Charleston, South Carolina. He was married and had children.




Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of one letter addressed to "Reverend Friend." In the letter Vietch discusses his recent religious experiences including the baptism of his children. Elegantly written, the letter provides a snap shot of life in 1828, discussing health, religion, camp meetings and personal relationships.
