CITATION: J. E. Thacker The new forward look in the art of living, MSS 248, Archives and Manuscripts Dept., Pitts Theology Library, Emory University
Little is known concerning the author. Thacker served with his wife as Methodist missionaries to the Old Umtali District of the Rhodesia Conference from 1945 to 1948. He experienced chronic health problems and underwent a series of surgical operations. At the time this manuscript was written, Thacker resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This carbon copy manuscript consists of three hundred and fifty-five
typewritten pages with handwritten editing marks. It examines the
ethical implications of Communism and Democracy, as advocated by the U.S.S.R.
and the United States during the Cold War period. Rejecting both
ideologies, Thacker recommends a Christian approach to living in which
the individual enters into a personal fellowship with God.
