Little is known about Sarah Plummer Crawford.  She was the daughter of Mr. A.E. Plummer and Mrs. E. Plummer and had at least one sister, Jennie.  In 1854 she was living in Aurora, Indiana.   Sarah Crawford was a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.  By 1903 she was living alone in Normal, Illinois.

This collection consists of a bound volume of writings by the friends and family of Sarah Crawford and loose material.  The volume is an album published by J.C. Riker in New York City with religious illustrations and blank pages.  The title, "Religious Album" appears on the front cover and title page.  Mrs. Crawford used these pages to record meditations, poetry, and quotations written by her friends and family during the period 1854-1868.

The loose material consists of five items from the period 1887-1914: an undated photograph of a child; a note from E. Harley to Sarah with the last words of her mother, E. Plummer; a newspaper article ca. 1914 concerning the will and estate of John Pierpont Morgan; "My Covenant with God" written by S.F. Wilson on October 31, 1887; and a letter from E. Harley to Sarah dated October 27, 1903.
