 Scope and Content Note

This undated prayer book contains handwritten prayers and devotions.  There is no information identifying the author or the time and place where the prayers were written.  The style of binding indicates that is may have been written during the 18th century.  There is a table of contents at the front of the book.

This item was accessioned as copies of the 1734 and 1755 Scottish Communion Office.  Two letters pertaining to the Office are included.  One, addressed to "My dear Lord" and signed "Strathmore" is dated 18 December 1891.  The other, signed by F.C. Eeles, is dated 25 May 1909.  The content of the letter indicates that it was written to John Dowden,  author of the Annotated Scottish Communion Office.  At the end of the letter is a brief explanatory note signed by Dowden.
