Esther L. Megill was born on February 27, 1924. She received her doctorate in religious education from the Hartford Seminary Foundation in 1960. In 1973 she became a lecturer in Christian Education at Trinity College in Legon, Ghana, where she also directed a program of lay-training and continuing education for pastors. Megill was also Africa secretary to the United Methodist General Board of Missions from 1968 to 1972. She wrote Joining the journey (1983), Come, let us sing!: hymns and songs for children in the church (1982), and The Nursery church school in Sierra Leone (1956), and is working on revisions to a book used in some theological schools in Africa. She resides in North Carolina.
