Biographical Note

Hicks Thomas Deacle, an Anglican priest, received his BA from St. John's College, Cambridge in 1840. He was ordained a deacon in 1841, and a priest in 1842. In 1844, he received his MA. During the 1850's, he served as chaplain of the Holy Trinity vicarage, Bungay, Suffolk. In 1860, Reverend Deacle was admitted as the vicar of Bawburgh, Diocese Norwich. 


Scope and Content Note

Twelve account books which lists Reverend Deacle's daily personal expenses from 1836, his first year in college, to 1869, and from 1886 to 1889. Also included is a gift copy of Sermons on the Scriptures and Liturgy by Augustus William Hare, with an inscription to Reverend Deacle from Edward Stanley, bishop of Norwich, dated January 10, 1841.
