The News Service and Media Relations Office was established in
1950.
In 1982 the office became part of the Georgia United Methodist
Communications
Council. The office represents the North
Georgia Conference and supplies information about the conference
and
the United Methodist Church to both religious and secular media
outlets.
This series consists of photographs, biographies, newspaper
clippings,
and other information about various individuals, groups, subjects, and
events in the North Georgia Conference. Some of the individuals
are
or were ministers in the North Georgia Conference, including Bishop
Arthur
J. Moore. The collection also contains files relating to the 1968
Uniting Conference that officially united the Evangelical United
Brethren
Church and the Methodist Church. The collection is arranged by
category
and thereunder alphabetically by surname or subject. These files
date from 1962-1974.
