The Bishop is the chief executive of the conference whose function is to administer the programs of the North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church.  The activities used to accomplish this function are presiding over annual conferences, serving on or chairing boards and committees, taking part in programs of the annual conference, and appointing all clergy members of the annual conference.

This series consists the administrative files of the Office of the Bishop including correspondence and files relating to the Florida, North Georgia, and South Georgia Conferences.  The material also includes cabinet worksheets on ministerial appointments and salaries, records of speaking engagements, and visits to districts and individual churches.  Records of events such as Sunday and holiday services, funerals, and community events are also included.  The materials were created during the terms of Bishops Arthur J. Moore, John Owen Smith, William R. Cannon, and James Lloyd Knox.
